EnviroPorts and the Industry

EnviroPorts was founded on the increasing demand from the shipping industry, to assist their global fleets with their waste disposal requirements in accordance with International Maritime Organization (IMO) and MARPOL regulations. EnviroPorts offices are based in Switzerland (Commercial) and Panama (Operations).

The IMO has ruled that from January 1st, 2020, marine sector emissions in international water be reduced. The marine sector will now have to comply with the new regulations worldwide i.e. using low sulphur fuel.

Globally a staggering 9 million MT of sludge is being produced annually from shipping activities and the UN estimates that 3,000 illegal slops disposal take place each year in Europe alone.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct sales and marketing functions of the company
  • Responsible for securing new customers
  • Maintaining the company’s CRM system developing existing accounts
  • Identify potential customers and register opportunities, pursue realization of such opportunities leading to revenue for the company
  • Finding innovative and effective waste disposal solutions in accordance with the global environmental regulations and resolving everyday challenges of the shipping and oil industry
  • Promoting recovery, processing and disposal of bunker and oil washings amongst various segments of the marine industry
  • Vetting of MARPOL Suppliers/Providers
  • Coordinating Operations with Enviroports local barge and plant partners
  • Operationally available on phone/email 24/7
  • Scheduling upcoming operations
  • Co-ordinating Post Operations Fixtures

Your Profile:

  • University degree (or equivalent) with a background in energy / maritime / shipping / ports is preferable.
  • Sales orientation
  • Working knowledge of a CRM software – Insightly, Salesforce
  • Knowledge on the different methods of processing and disposal of oil waste and washings
  • Working knowledge of shipping commodities such as crude oil and bunker
  • Excellent verbal and written English and Spanish skills are a must, other languages are a plus
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Proven attention to detail
  • Strong communications and negotiation skills
  • Motivated by resolving the environmental challenges of a worldwide industry
  • A self-starter with an outgoing personality and strong business skills
